Angela Lansbury, 'Murder She Wrote' Star, Dies at 96

Angela Lansbury, a British actress who kicked her heels in Broadway musicals "Ma'am" and "Gypsy", has died.

She died five days before her 97th birthday.

Lansbury won five Tony Awards for her Broadway performance and a Lifetime Achievement Award

She earned Academy Award nominations as a supporting actress for two of her first three films, "Gaslight" 

Her mature demeanor prompted the makers to cast her much older than her actual age.

Her stardom came in middle age when she became a New York theater hit, winning Tony Awards for "Ma'am" (1966).
