Barcelona's Gerard Pique announces sudden retirement

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has announced he is retiring from football as the Spanish league breaks down for the World Cup

Pique says Saturday's match against Almería in LaLiga will be his last for the Catalan club at Camp Nou

Barca will later travel to Osasuna next week for their final match before the World Cup in Qatar.

He said in a video that till now I have not said anything, but now I want to be the one who is talking about me.

And he told that from a very young age, I didn't want to be a footballer, I wanted to play for Barca

Pique joined the club's academy in 1997 before leaving for Man United in 2004.

He also won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship during a nine-year career with Spain.

Pique, Busquets and Alba have all re-adjusted their salaries
