Brittney Griner met with U.S. embassy officials

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre says Brittany Griner met with US Embassy officials on Thursday.

She said that we have been told that she is doing as can be expected under the circumstances

An important motion was made to resolve the current unacceptable and wrongful detention of Brittany Griner and Paul Whelan.

The US has said Griner has been "wrongfully detained" by Russia. He was found guilty of drug charges.

A Russian court rejected Griner's team's appeal in late October.

The US is first in talks with Russia about a possible deal that would bring back Griner and Whelan.

Jean-Pierre told reporters on Thursday that the US continued to comply with that proposal.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Griner's release was not a priority for him and Russian officials.
