China Launches 3rd Space Station Component

China has launched one last model to complete its permanent space station.

On Monday Mengtian was launched into space from the Wenchang Satellite Launch Center at 3:39 pm.

Space enthusiasts and photographers watch the lift-off from a nearby beach.

Excited people waved Chinese flags, many wore T-shirts with Chinese characters.

Joins Ventian as a second laboratory module for the Celestial Dream.

According to the China Space Agency, which has two male and one female astronauts, Mengtian was to spend 13 hours in flight before reaching Tiangong.

Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuze arrived on board for a six-month stay in early June.

The length of Mengtian is approximately 17 meters and its total weight is 20 tons.
