Kari Lake indicated she will announce this month

Kari Lake told reporters on Tuesday she would be "the worst nightmare in eight years" if she beat Democrat Katie Hobbs for the job.

Lake is touted as a running mate for Donald Trump in the widely expected race for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

The former TV anchor added: "We have talked about this before. Not only am I going to be governor of Arizona for four years, but I'm also going to serve two terms.

Prior to joining politics, Trump hosted 14 seasons of The Apprentice for NBC.

TV Lake was joined by anchors from MSNBC and CNN, including Don Lemon, who is still employed at CNN, and two who have left, Chris Cuomo and Brian Stelter.

Lake also said that the media used it to "manipulate a fearful and broken population", a tactic "out of the communist playbook".

The Cook Political Report gave a toss-up rating to the gubernatorial race, but the polling website FiveThirtyEight gave Lake a 68 percent chance of winning.

"Lake's views on the legality of the 2020 election make him a polarizing figure," wrote Larry Sabato, Kyle Kondick and Jay Miles Coleman.

"But he is more charismatic than his Democratic opponent ... who has been criticized for his refusal to debate."
