Lakers: Will Pelican-era Anthony Davis ever be back?
Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram, Lakers traded Lonzo Ball several unsafe first round draft picks and swaps for their man Anthony Davis (Star Big).
During his time with the Pelicans, Davis was viewed as a perennial All-NBA player, averaging 23.7 points per game with 10.5 rebounds and 2.4 blocks
Davis looked set to become one of the best Lakers big men of all time, with 26.1 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks a game.
An award much deserved for the big guy who had no championships with the Pelicans
But since the championship season all his numbers have dropped. Especially their shooting numbers.
Davis has shot just over 30% of the 3-point line in his career, but has seen a drop of nearly 18% in numbers over the past two seasons.
In addition to the need to win a championship, his career has also started to slow down due to sustained injuries.
The NBA's break still works wonders for the top NBA talent, but Davis is just 29 years old and has held the league for 11 seasons.
Hopefully with the new head coach he will find a rhythm to change the culture, but the best of Davis may be behind him now.
