Meta hits another drop for tech companies.

Facebook and Instagram's company Meta said it fell 4% from $29 billion to $27.7 billion compared to the three months from July to September.

This massive drop and this announcement led to a fall in the shares on Wednesday.

YouTube, which also sits under Alphabet, saw ad revenue drop to $7.1 billion, down from $7.3 billion. 

In a conference call with investors on Wednesday, Zuckerberg said investments in the metaverse and artificial intelligence will continue.

Zuckerberg said, "It would be a mistake for us not to focus on these areas that I think will be fundamentally important for the future.

Zuckerberg said daily users of Meta's services, which includes WhatsApp, grew 4% from a year ago and now tops 2.93 billion worldwide.

Meta actually grew by about 4,000 employees to a total of more than 87,000 as of September 30.
