My Decision to Own
HobbyLobby
The Patagonia founder made news recently when he relinquished ownership in his company to allow the mission and purpose to remain intact.
His decision, while rare, reflects the decision of other business owners such as Alan Barnhart of Barnhart Crane.
In the mid-1980s I went through a phase where I was proud to think I had a Midas touch—and I almost lost business.
God had to show me that it was He who gave success.
In Deuteronomy 8.18 the Bible says that it is God who gives us the power to make money.
In that vein, I encourage every leader to reflect on the source of their truth.
With my ownership of Hobby Lobby I experienced a similar decision making process; I have chosen God.
On what basis do they make decisions? Is it just me, or is there a leadership party as well?
