Robbie Coltrane: Harry Potter actor dies aged 72

Actor Robbie Coltrane played Hagrid in the Harry Potter films, has died at the age of 72.

Belinda Wright reported that the actor died in a hospital near Falkirk in Scotland.

His agent described Coltrane as a "unique genius", adding to his role as Hagrid, all children and adults from all over the world loved the look.

He also said that after 40 years he was proud to be called Robbie Coltrane's agent.

His family consists of his sister Annie Rae, his children and his mother, Rona Gemmel. They would like to thank everyone at Forth Valley Royal Hospital for their care.

Coltrane was made an OBE on the honors list in 2006 for his services to drama and was awarded the BAFTA Scotland Award for Outstanding Contribution to Film in 2011.

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe said in tribute to Coltrane: "Robbie was one of the funniest people I've met and made us laugh constantly like kids on set.

She paid tribute to Coltrane on Instagram, saying that "there was no better Hagrid" and that she "it's a pleasure to be Hermione".
